SINGAPORE: The organisers of the Singapore Biennale on Thursday started the construction of renowned architect Shigeru Ban's creation - the Containart Pavilion.
The pavilion will house three of the Biennale's largest indoor installations at the Central Promontory site at Marina Boulevard.
Renowned for creating architectural wonders using paper and cardboard, Shigeru Ban's contribution to the Biennale will be made up of 150 shipping containers and 34 ten-metre long paper tubes.
Based on the theme "Wonder", the Biennale will feature works from over 50 artists, which can be viewed at various locations, including City Hall, Esplanade Bridge and Singapore Flyer.
The Singapore Biennale starts on September 11 and ends on November 16.
